The Welsh Handicap Team Championship East Qualifier was played at Bargoed Golf Club. All players and officials were treated to a very warm welcome and the golf course was praised for its very good condition. The winner of the individual competition was Ellis Ladd of Whitehall Golf Club who scored 40 points playing off a handicap of 20. Ellis can be seen in the above photograph receiving the trophy from Championship Chairman Gareth Evans.
In the team competition winners Bargoed 1 will be joined by Cardiff 1 in the national finals at Celtic Manor on Sunday September 1. The team competition was the total of the best three Stableford cards in a team of four. Bargoed 1 scored a total of 98 points and Cardiff 1 and Llantrisant scored 97 points with Cardiff 1 winning the second qualifying spot by virtue of having the highest fourth card.
