U16 Results 2025
Glamorgan v Wiltshire
Glamorgan v Gloucestershire
Our U16s welcomed Gloucestershire to Pontardawe Golf Club for a friendly match. The morning foursomes saw Glamorgan start impressively, securing 4½ points from a possible 5. The scoreline, however, did not fully reflect how competitive the matches were, with three games being decided on the 18th hole.
Gloucestershire responded strongly in the afternoon singles, winning six of the ten matches to take the overall result right down to the wire. Fortunately, crucial points from Tomas Carlson, Max Lewis, Fallon Sawyers Grandon and captain Marley Francis proved decisive, allowing Glamorgan to edge out the visitors by 8½–6½.
The team now look ahead to their remaining Channel League fixtures – against Wiltshire at Coed-y-Mwstwr on Wednesday 13 August, and a return match against Gloucestershire at Bristol Golf Club on Sunday 7 September.
Glamorgan v Somerset
Our U16s commenced their Channel League campaign with a challenging away match against Somerset. The morning foursomes looked set to be a clean sweep for the hosts, but a determined fightback saw Geraint and Dylan rally from three down to clinch victory on the 17th hole. Shortly after, a superb 20-foot putt from Marley secured a half alongside Max, ensuring Glamorgan remained in contention heading into the singles.
The afternoon began brightly, with Glamorgan ahead in seven matches at one point. However, the significantly lower average handicap of the Somerset side eventually proved decisive, and the hosts went on to claim a 10–5 win. Special mention goes to Tomas Carlson, captain for the day, who led by example with a fine singles victory and rounded off the day with a well-received speech at the evening meal. Despite the result, there were plenty of positives and valuable lessons to take forward as the team looks ahead to their next outing — a friendly against Gloucestershire next Tuesday. |
Glamorgan v Dyfed
Our U16 team produced a dominant performance yesterday at the Vale Resort National Course, overcoming Dyfed County Golf Union with an emphatic 14–1 victory.
The team set the tone early, winning all five morning foursomes matches to take full control heading into the afternoon singles. Maintaining their momentum, the boys secured the remaining points in style, with every member of the team contributing to the overall tally across the day.
Special mention goes to Gethin Lewis, captain for the day, who not only secured wins in both his foursomes and singles matches, but also delivered an excellent speech following the evening meal.
Congratulations to all the players on a fantastic display of teamwork and skill, and a big thank you to the parents who came along to support the juniors on the day.
