U12 County Championship 2024

The under 12s County championship was played this year at St.Athan golf club the 5th time the club has hosted this championship and the club has now become the perfect place for the County under 12s to finish their season. The warm welcome given to all the boys helps to keep their enthusiasm for the game at this critical point in their development and my thanks go to everyone at St.Athan for all their help in this regard. On the day we ran 2 competitions, the main 18 hole medal the first time this age group has played a medal and for the younger members of the group a 9 hole modified stableford and I thank all the boy’s for taking part .

The scoring on the day was excellent and provided the best gross score since the Under 12s County championship started some 12 years ago . The winner Flynn Lambly of Radyr golf club (pictured with his two trophies) also became the first player to win this championship more than once when he recorded a gross 72 to win by 9 shots from Dylan Williams of Llantrisant and Pontyclun golf club ( pictured with blue top) . The 9 hole competition was a much closer affair with the winner Noah Hill of Aberdare golf club scoring 54 points to beat Daniel Clarke of Llanishen golf club into 2nd place with 53 points.

The championship also brought to a close the Under 12s Order of Merit with Oliver Jones of Llantrisant coming out on top beating Harrison Jones also of Llantrisant into 2nd place . A massive thank you to all the parents for their great efforts in getting the boy’s to the events and I look forward to doing it all again in 2025 .
