Our U16s Team travelled to The Bristol Golf Club for their final Channel League fixture of the season against Gloucestershire.
The morning foursomes were unfortunately abandoned due to heavy rain and lightning, meaning the five points were shared between the two teams. Fortunately, conditions improved over lunchtime, allowing the afternoon singles to go ahead as planned.
The singles proved to be a closely fought contest, with the majority of matches reaching the final two holes. Glamorgan, however, held their nerve to edge out their opponents, securing 6½ of the 10 points available to claim a well-deserved 9–6 overall victory.
Well done to all the players (and parents) for their patience while the team managers kept a close eye on the forecasts during the morning delays, and special credit to Elis Lewis, captain for the day, who not only played his part on the course but also delivered a stellar speech to round off the day.
This fixture concludes the u16s’ teams Channel League season – a campaign that saw the squad record four wins out of five, a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work and commitment of all involved.
